Join us at a local café or restaurant for an intimate Japanese traditional cooking class. Using predominantly locally grown vegetables, you will uncover the secrets of healthy, home-style Japanese cuisine.

  • Farm or Market Visits: Depending on the season, visit a local farm, orchard, or market (optional).

Sake Brewery

Sake Brewery Tour & Tasting experience

The brewery has 350 years of history and deep culture. Established in 1673, this brewery is the oldest and longest running brewery in Tochigi.

What We Offer:

  • Brewery Tour: Explore the heart of the brewery to learn the traditional methods of Sake making.

  • Sake & Food Paring: Indulge your senses in this sake and food paring experience at the beautiful gallery hall. Sample a curated selection of 8-10 sakes, including some limited seasonal varieties.

  • Live Entertainment (optional): Enhance your visit with music and/or dance provided by talented locals, creating a relaxed and intimate atmosphere for you to enjoy.

  • Sake ice cream & Matcha : Conclude your experience on a sweet note with their famous sake soft serve ice cream paired with Matcha green tea or coffee.

Decorative Sushi roll and/or Japanese sweets cooking class

You can learn how to make visually beautiful and delicious sushi rolls and/or Japanese sweets. No prior cooking experience is necessary! This delightful hands-on  cooking class is taught by a registered dietitian and Japanese confectionery chef. She is using natural food dye, so no worry!  You will discover the techniques and artistry behind these beautiful culinary creations. You can request what you would like to make in advance.

Guarantee you to shout “Kawaii~ (=cute)” at the end of the class.

Tea ceremony and meditation at temple

Would you like to experience serene moments at a temple, participating in a tea ceremony using the Tenmyo cast iron pot, whose history spans over 1,000 years? Enjoy a Dharma talk with a monk, followed by a meditation or gentle yoga session. Optional activities include a vegan monk lunch, Japanese calligraphy, or a flower arrangement session.

  • Tea ceremony at a temple: We offer you the most authentic green tea with Japanese sweets using the Tenmyo cast iron pot and learn about its history followed by a dharma talk with a monk and meditation session.
